TRIO Brave’d E3 2012 for Disney Interactive

At E3, gamers, techies, and professionals alike joined at the LA Convention Center last week to witness the reveal of the future of interactive entertainment, and TRIO’s booth for Disney Interactive Group was a show-stopper.  TRIO designed and built the 15,000 sf Disney Interactive booth at E3, incorporating a busy main stage area, individual ‘worlds’ for featured brands, offices, and conference/meeting areas.

Visitors explored different ‘worlds’ in the Disney booth and left with branded swag to take away.  Upon entering the booth, eight oversized drafting tables displayed huge monitors where guests could play the upcoming “Epic Mickey: The Power of Two” game before getting in line for personalized Oswald ear hats, a clever marketing tie-in by the Disney marketing team.   Huge “animation cells” floated up and away from the oversized drafting tables into a lit dome overhead, as a light show flitted across the pieces.   The game garnered multiple “best of show” honors – and the tie in between the game and the physical space was dramatic.

Disney Archives brought out some treasures from the “vaults”, housed in custom-built display pieces, giving some background to “Epic Mickey 2” ‘s newest hero, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

A raised platform was covered in realistic “water” flooring to provide a themed lounge and bar area for the “Where’s My Water” franchise.

Game kiosks were built and skinned with graphics to showcase the new trailer for Disney movie Wreck It Ralph, as well as interactive games “Just Dance” and “Disney Princess.” A main stage in the center of the booth became home for artist David Garibaldi as he returned to the Disney event to create more of his hand-painted masterpieces.

Next to extensive office and VIP lounge area was a live forest ‘world’ to highlight the launch of “Brave” – both the film and the inter-active game.  Hand-sculpted kiosks and seating were given a realistic “rock and stone” look, with an elaborate hand-carved Brave sign anchoring the corner area.

The booth space was magical – and the perfect showcase for Disney’s newest offerings.
